Premiere reading of a new play “Passengers” by Radha S. Menon tonight in Hamilton!

passengersstagedreadingDon’t be deterred by the snowy weather. While I can’t personally make it to Hamilton for this event I wish I could go and I hope that someone takes pictures and sends me a review.  I was listening to CBC Fresh Air this morning and heard about this premiere staged reading of a new play Passengers by Radha S. Menon.  A portion of this play, Ghost Train Riders , was presented in the summer at the Hamilton Fringe Festival  . Tonight’s performance will be directed by Sasha Kovacs  and presented by Red Betty Theatre  . Saturday Dec. 14, 2013 7:00 PM   Staircase Theatre, 27 Dundurn St. N., Hamilton (near King and Dundurn). Pay what you can. Box office opens at 6:00 PM.  This event is supported an Ontario Arts Council Development grant.

I am very intrigued by the premise of this play about an old woman waiting at a train station, taking another journey in a life which is a series of goodbyes. Her thoughts are interrupted by a boisterous teenager. “The two embark on a journey together through the old woman’s past, rediscovering the joys and pitfalls of her life.”   Click here for full details about the reading. Follow on Twitter @RedBettyTheatre . If you attend please let me know what you think. I have been in touch with Radha and will interview her at a later date about this play and its development.
